Home Lately

Hi, friends!

Just popping in to share some photos of our home as of late 🤍. As you know, we bought our builder-grade house three years ago and have been slowly updating it. We took out a wall, replaced the flooring, added a fireplace and built-in cabinets, upgraded the trim and baseboard, painted—the list goes on! Now that I think about it, we have put a lot of work into this place. Yeesh!

That’s all to say that home takes time. While there are still several projects to complete, our house is finally to a point where it’s mirroring the vision I had for the space when we first moved in. And boy, does it feel good to look around and love the place you call home 🤍.

Can you believe we’ve had this IKEA sideboard cabinet for seven years?! We’ve used it as a media console, a toy cabinet, and a dresser over the years. Awhile ago, I painted it SW Balanced Beige and replaced the knobs and feet. Now we use it as an entry table/shoe cabinet and it works and looks great, I think!

The wall color in here is Valspar Bistro White and the trim is SW Shoji White. I love the subtle contrast and the light colors keep our small space feeling bright and airy.

We finally replaced our living room sofa last year and boy, was it time! We upgraded to an oversized chair and sofa set from Macy’s, and they have held up really well to our pets and four kids. I like that the covers are removable for washing, and the seats are extra deep. Perfect for cozying up to read a book or watch a movie 🤍.

Side note: can we take a moment to appreciate the hallway arch my husband added in here for me? I just love it!

Psst…hiding inside these built-in cabinets are all of our kids’ books, movies, and video games. I love having a space for them that I can hide away, keeping the space looking tidy and uncluttered.

The built-in shelves are probably due for a refresh, but as they say: if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. I’ll admit, I can succumb to home decor influencers who are constantly restyling shelves with the latest Target decor drop. I try to remember that that’s not normal, and homes are above all, meant for living in. So here’s a reminder for us both: our homes don’t need constant redecorating 🤍.

That’s all for today, friends! As always, thanks for stopping in and for supporting my little corner of the internet. I hope you’ve found something that inspires you!

xoxo,

Catrina
