Holiday Home Tour
Merry Christmas, friends!
It has been such a busy year for us. Between house projects, school and extra curriculars for the older girls, and taking care of the littles and animals, it’s been a miracle just to get everything done, let alone trying to blog about it. BUT I am so thrilled with how cozy the house looks this year all decorated for the holidays that I just had to make time for a holiday home tour!
I am still in love with the fireplace built-ins Hamilton built for me last year. They are the perfect blank slate for decor, especially at Christmas time!
For the fireplace mantle, I layered one six foot faux cedar garland, one six foot faux pine garland, and a handful of greenery sprigs tucked here and there to fill in the gaps. The pine garland is a near perfect dupe for the Afloral Norfolk Pine garland, and I got it for 70% off at JoAnn’s! I think it came out to less than twenty dollars per strand. I love how full and textured it looks!
My weakness when it comes to holiday decor is stockings—I always seem to buy at least one new one every year. I like to mix and match them, and add ribbon and bells for a little extra something. The beige knit ones are this year’s finds!
Some unsolicited advice: taper candles are an accident waiting to happen if you have a toddler in the house. These pretty ribbed ivory candles were an inexpensive Hobby Lobby find, so I didn’t worry too much when Isla decided to use them as drumsticks.
Speaking of toddlers, a bowl full of pinecones will definitely become a sensory toy if left on the coffee table. I figure, as long as she doesn’t try to eat them, all is well. Don’t they look pretty?
The entryway is still mid-project, but here’s a little sneak peek. Soon, we’ll be adding vertical tongue-and-groove below the horizontal boards and peg rail. I’m excited to see how it looks when it’s finished!
Our Christmas tree is in front of the built-ins on this side of the fireplace, but I still added a little christmas cheer to the shelves. I’ve been collecting ceramic christmas village houses for a few years and I love finding new ones to add in.
That’s all for now, friends! Hope you’re enjoying the magic of the holiday season. Merry Christmas!
