printable christmas advent
Hello, friends!
Tomorrow is December 1st, which means the countdown to Christmas officially begins! Nothing gets my littles excited for the holidays like an advent calendar, and this year I wanted to do something special. In the past we’ve done book advents and treat advents, which the girls have loved. But now that we’re stocked up on Christmas books and still have a pantry full of leftover Halloween candy (someone please get this stuff outta here!!), I thought it would be fun to do an activity-based advent instead!
For our advent, I came up with a list of activities that will work well for us, but feel free to fill in the text on the printable I created with whatever special traditions your family has. Maybe you’re in the midwest and you get a lot more snow than we do—add in lots of snow-based activities! Maybe you love baking or crafting with your kids—sprinkle in some of those! Be broad, be specific, do what works for you. I know I had to look at a calendar and see how many school days versus weekend/vacation days we were working with to make sure I had enough low-key activities to keep things from getting overwhelming. In the end, I really wanted to focus on togetherness. Baking Christmas cookies together. Doing something kind for a stranger together. Watching a Christmas movie together. After all, that’s really what the holidays are all about, right?
I’d love to see what sort of activities you come up with! Find me on Instagram @catsivula and tag me if you’d like to share how yours turns out!
Happy holidays, friends!

P.S. This hanging advent calendar is a timeless classic from Hearth & Hand (Joanna Gaines’ Target line). I absolutely LOVE it!!!
