Honey’s Winter Hideaway
Hi, friends!
Just stopping in with an update on how Honey’s hutch is holding up in all this snow!
Long story short: she is toasty warm and dry as a bone :).
When we built this hutch, there were many times I thought maybe we were going overboard with the size/sturdiness of it. It definitely took more time and money to “do it right” as my husband says, but I’m so glad we did! Especially in these below freezing temperatures and weeks on end of snow, it’s been great knowing that she is warm and snug in her little home :).
One additional step I took to winterize her hutch was to put a little willow basket in the top and add a bunch of timothy hay in and around the basket. The hay provides some added insulation and protects her from any chilly breezes that come up through the ramp opening.
That’s all for today! Warm winter wishes (and snugs from the bun!)
