Bunny Hutch Reveal!
Hi, friends!
At long last, the bunny hutch project is FINISHED! Boy, did this turn into a bigger task than I expected. But it was so, so worth it in the end!
After searching for weeks for a pre-done hutch and not finding one that I liked, I started to look around the internet for building plans. After still not finding what I was looking for, I decided to just design the plans myself! (How hard could it be, right?)
Some caveats here: My husband and father are both carpenters, so I knew I’d have some expert help if I needed it. It was also really helpful to be able to ask them about basic structural questions so that the final build ended up safe and sturdy. With my design savvy and their carpentry skills, my dream bunny hutch came to life!
And here she is! Ain’t she a beauty?!
The hutch ended up being a little over five feet tall, three feet wide, and slightly more than two feet deep. The whole project took a couple of weeks to complete. The primary structure is made from 2x3 boards, plywood and T111. Everything is caulked and painted with weatherproof outdoor paint to protect it from moisture damage, and the roof is built just like a real house’s roof would be, with tar paper, flashing and asphalt shingles!
I’m working on a full tutorial, but for now I wanted to at least show y’all the finished product because I’m so darn proud of this beauty!
What do y’all think? I’d love to hear from you in the comments! :)
