Growing, Growing!

Hi, friends!

Just popping in with another chick update because I can not believe how quickly these girls are growing! It seems every morning they are a little bigger, a little wilder, and sporting a few more big girl feathers!

Our Calico Princess chick, Lady Featherington, has been dealing with a mild case of “pasty butt”. Apparently it’s pretty common and usually caused by temperature fluctuations or not drinking enough water. None of the other girls have it, thank goodness, so we are just washing her hiney a couple of times each day and monitoring her.

I know we have at least five weeks before the chicks can move to an outdoor coop, but I’ve been looking online for a coop so we’re ready when the time comes. Honestly, pre-made coops are really expensive! And it seems a lot of them would need additional weather proofing to work well in our climate. Soooo, I may just draw up some plans and have that carpenter husband of mine help me build one. What’s one more project, right?

It’s getting a lot more difficult to photograph these girls now that their wing feathers are coming in, but I’m glad I got out my camera and snagged these shots! There’s just nothing cuter than fluffy little chicks 💛.

That’s all for today’s chick update! Thanks for stopping by, friends!
